What does life look like as a scientist? Twelve PhD’s are going to report about their daily life in science through short video’s and blogs. Koen de Koning, PhD student (ex-president of PNUT) within the CSTM department of BMS, will be one of them!
The twelve PhD’s are conducting research at Dutch Universities into various topics as children’s rights, the art of looking in a haystack of data, malaria, globalization in ancient times and civilian resistance. They will join a team of over forty other PhD’s that are already blogging about how it is to work in Science. The blogs are primarily intended for (prospective) students and pupils to help them get a realistic view of life as a scientist, but are compelling for everyone that is interested in science.
Koen de Koning
Koen de Koning is the first UT researcher to be selected by the KNAW as a ‘Face of Science’. Koen’s research focusses on economy, psychology, math and climate change. He investigates the influence of flooding and climate change on decisions on the housing market. He uses computer simulations to predict what will happen to housing prices when a flood strikes, as well as to predict the long-term consequences of climate change and increasing hazard probabilities
