[Indian New Year]
The Indian Students Association at University of Twente (ISA@UT) in collaboration with P-NUT and the Faculty Club is celebrating Samvatsaraadi - the traditional Indian New Year, on the 14th of April 2007 at the UT. The celebrations include Indian musical and cultural highlights followed by a dinner exhibiting Indian multi-regional delicacies.

We would like to invite you for this traditional Indian New Year celebration. It starts at 16.00h in the Bastille Atrium and will be followed by a nice dinner at 18.30h in the Restaurant of the Faculty Club.

People who wish to be a part of this celebration, can register by sending an email on or before 11th April 2007 to Mr. Srivatsa Bettahalli ( with ^Registration for Indian New Year^ as the email subject. The entree fee for the event is 7 euros per person, collected at the entrance to the event.

[Intermediair PhD career event]
The third edition of the Intermediair Phd Career Event will take place on 19 April 2007. With the Intermediair Orientation Guide PhD edition and the PhD Career Event, Intermediair and the PhD Network of the Netherlands (PNN) would like to help you in preparing for a career in or outside academia.

The Intermediair PhD Career Event exclusively aims at PhD candidates and PhD holders of all universities. It will give you the opportunity to meet leading commercial and public organizations in the Netherlands and attend presentations and workshops.

Admission is free if you register on The maximum number of participants is 1000.

[International Get-Togethers]
The Faculty Club Foundation together with P-NUT organizes a Get-Together every last Tuesday of the month from 17:00h, in the Blomzaal of the Faculty Club. This informal event is intended to give both Dutch and non-Dutch PhDs and staff members the opportunity to meet each other. The next International Get-Together will be on April 24th, 17:00h. Drinks and snacks are sponsored by the Faculty Club Foundation.

[UT News survey]
The UT News English page aims to serve the English-speaking community at the UT. To better gauge the needs and interests of their readers - both Dutch and international - UT News is conducting a survey. You can fill it in on: (before April 12).

[Career survey]
The university of Twente participates in the Universum Graduate Survey. This survey is meant to gather information about your career expectations and ambitions. The resulting report will help to give more information about your vision about the future and is a good way for you to make your voice heard to your future employers. Your response is completely anonymous. Follow the following link to take part in the survey:

[Nationale DenkTank]
The "Nationale DenkTank" is looking for PhDs to support their research at the end of summer in 2007. This "ThinkTank" is a yearly non-profit initiative by MScs and PhDs that aims to decrease barriers between science, government and business. The DenkTank is organized around a research topic at the boundary of these areas of expertise, usually a high-impact problem in today society. Around 20 PhDs and graduating Master students are invited to participate for 2.5 months in the DenkTank on a voluntary basis. If you would like participate, please take a look at They are looking for creative problem solvers that are willing to look across the boundaries of their particular research expertise. You need to understand and be able to read Dutch. If you have any questions, please send an email to

[Call for new board members P-NUT!]
Three of the P-NUT board members are nearing the end of their PhD and thus will no longer be able to continue their work for P-NUT. As we think continuation of P-NUT is important, we would like to ask you if you are interested to join the P-NUT board. In principle this is for the duration of 1 year. Time-spending is 2-3 hours per week, normally during lunch hours. If you are interested, please contact us for more information.
