On Friday 8 and Saturday 9 September, the University of Twente and the Twentse Noabers will host a large number of workshops at the Enschede Roombeek location of the D’RAN17 festival for democracy. The workshops are entitled “Get to work on...”.
These workshops focus on working together on themes such as “Debt and health in the neighbourhood”, “Sustainability and a multi-generation garden”, “Care provided by neighbours; social entrepreneurship” and “New forms of democracy and e-democracy” (in Dutch).
Festival for Democracy
D’RAN17 is the first in a long line of annual festivals organized by the Twentement Foundation. The event was inspired by the Folkemødet festival on the Danish island of Bornholm. D’RAN17’s aim is to connect people and organizations so we can continue working to create a vibrant democracy together where everyone can enjoy a rich and meaningful life. In addition to this appealing and diverse programme with inspiring guests and speakers, there will be plenty of art and culture, special performances and great food and drinks.
GET TO WORK ON....
The workshops are a joint initiative of the University of Twente and Twentse Noabers. Twentse Noabers is a cooperation between residents’ corporations, neighbourhoods and citizens’ initiatives in the region of Twente. Its core values are: working together, connecting people, sharing knowledge and helping each other. This is also known as regional noaberschap, a local cultural concept meaning neighbourliness that has been around since the time of small agricultural communities. As an entrepreneurial university, the University of Twente aims to contribute to solutions to the demands of the future and boosting the region’s innovative power.
LIVING SMART CAMPUS
GET TO WORK is part of the University of Twente’s Living Smart Campus programme, which is aimed at fulfilling the potential of the campus. The Living Smart Campus programme is a collection of campus development projects (involving teaching, research and/or the support departments) which use the campus as a living lab.
