Quantum black holesIncorporating the gravitational force in theories of the sub-atomic particles is one of the greatest challenges in theoretical physics. Einstein predicted the existence of black holes, even sub-atomic ones. How do these tiny black holes and sub-atomic particles interact? Nobel laureate Gerard ’t Hooft shows that the mathematics which describes the hydrogen atom can be applied to a black hole, since this must also be a quantum form of matter. It turns out that space and time take bizarre twists here. | |

HappeningThe Week of Inspiration will be closed with a relaxed evening in the Vrijhof. The first part of the evening will be filled with comedy. Three international comedians will come by to share their humoristic world view with us. One of them, Dave Thompson (Great-Britain), is well-known in the world of children’s tv-shows; he played Tinky Winky in the Teletubbies. Nowadays, he travels all around the world, performing as a stand-up comedian. The others, Joe Eagan (Canada) and Brian O’Grady (Ireland), may never have played a Teletubbie before, but they share Dave’s international experience. After the comedy show, we will continue with a Pub Quiz, in which you can dig up all your knowledge on culture, science and the world around us | |
