During the Opening of the Academic Year, the best lecturer of the University of Twente is awarded with the “Educational award”. With this award, both the students and the University wants to emphasize the importance of quality education and wants to encourage lecturers to provide their education with the best quality possible. The winner of the award is rewarded with €2.500,- as well as a certificate. Once a year, this event is organized by the Centrale Onderwijsprijs Commissie (COP).
During the opening of the academic year, the Twente Graduate School (in short: TGS) will award the TGS-award to one future TGS student. The TGS Award is handed out during the Opening of the Academic Year by the Rector Magnificus.
Nominees for the TGS award are talented and excellent UT Master’s students who have the ambition to pursue a PhD trajectory and are working on a research proposal for external funding in the first half the year, together with a supervisor or professor. Eligible students are in the last phase of their Master’s programme. Six research proposals are each sent to two external reviewers (experts in the field). The external reviews as well as the presentations and interviews with the candidates are the basis for the TGS Award jury rank the proposals and choose the winner.
The winner of the award additionally receives a cheque of 2,500 euros to spend on Doctoral Education (summer school, workshop, conference).
The University of Twente rewards excellent students for their achievements with the “Graduation Award” for our Msc-students. Five Master students (one from each department) will receive the prize during the Opening of the Academic Year. The Rector Magnificus hands out the prizes: a charter and a cheque with the value of €1000.
