The UT offers its alumni several services to make their lives a bit easier. 


All UT alumni receive a free 'lifelong' e-mail account (first name initials.last The University uses this address for its communications with you such as in the case of sending the monthly alumni newsletter or sharing information about interesting events. Have a look at these useful tips below.

Tip 1: Mail forwarding can also be easily set-up for those users not interested in using their alumni e-mail address as a primary account. For more details, see the alumni portal manual on this page.
Tip 2: To set up your alumnus e-mail on your mobile device or in your e-mail client you can click these instructions or see the manual alumni-account mobile devices on this page.
Tip 3: Your alumnus e-mail address can be used for job applications or other formal contacts.

Newsletter & Magazine

We like to keep you informed of relevant developments at the UT through this website, social media channels and via the bi-annual free University of Twente magazine. 

The digital newsletter we send to your alumni email account. Here you will find news of the UT and information about activities at the UT. Would you read this newsletter? Then check your alumni email account or read the newsletter digitally. Or read our latest newsletter here.

The English version of the University of Twente magazine is published digitally twice a year and contains in-depth features about developments at the UT as well as interesting stories about alumni. It is a great way for keeping up-to-date about both the University and the alumni network. You can read the latest issue of the magazine here

Alumni portal

You can use the alumni portal to get in touch with old classmates and/or contact other interesting alumni. The features of the portal include a contact book, an alumni directory, and a mail client for both your alumnus e-mail account and other used mail services (i.e. Gmail, Hotmail, etc.). If you want to directly log into the portal you can use this link.

As a UT alumnus, you are entitled to an alumni portal account. If you have never received login details or have forgotten your username or password please visit the update your information part of the website.


UT-alumni have free use of the University library. In order to use this service please present yourself at the central information desk of the library along with an acceptable form of identification (i.e. passport, driving license, etc).

The Alumni Office in collaboration with the University Library now also offer alumni access to the online JSTOR database where you can read tens of thousands of articles and back issues of over two thousand scientific journals covering a wide range of disciplines. The JSTOR database can be accessed via the alumni portal.

Study & Career

Your University of Twente degree provides an excellent foundation but education is a lifelong journey! You may find the following resources interesting options to continue developing in your field or advancing further in your career path.


The Professional Learning and Development (PLD) offers a range of part-time study programmes and masterclasses (mostly in Dutch). These programmes are closely linked to existing UT education programmes.  


Each year the Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) offers a number of trainee places in its Civil Engineering, Energy, and Process Technology of Robotics tracks. As a PDEng trainee you follow a post-Master design programme at the UT lasting 2-years. This programme combines academic research in an industrial context with teaching modules from a wide range of topics and is strongly focused on technological design.


Students, staff, and alumni can access dedicated resources for launching their own company. The Kennispark Twente website provides more details and contact points.


Twente Get Connected is a platform connecting entrepreneurs, start-ups, students, and other talent from the region together and promoting Twente as a top technological, entrepreneural and innovative knowledge region. The site is the perfect place for finding information about local career opportunties as well as groups and activities.
