A world wide community with impact

A world wide community with impact! Last week, we asked you for inspiring examples of alumni that are helping others in these extraordinary times. And boy, did we receive these examples. We would like to thank all those alumni that are working hard helping others. We would like to share some with you below, all examples can be found on utwente.nl/wall

  • Last week our first ever online alumni event took place! Together with TUD, TU/e and WUR we organised an online lecture and drinks for nearly 50 alumni in the Nordics. More online events will follow soon, so stay tuned!
  • Olav de Maat (TCW ’00) developed weavr, a platform on which people can have spontaneous encounters with others.
  • Kars Veling (BIT ’93) and Daan Giesen (BK ’02) are helping schools with setting up online classes with their company LessonUp.
  • Together with her harpist, Petra van den Dolder (OWK ’06) recorded one of her concerts, so that the elderly can enjoy classical music online.
  • Rob van der Veer (INF ’93), formerly the frontman of campus band Ucle Bob, performed live from home for over 80 of his colleagues at IT company SIG.
  • Evelien Ydo (PSY ’18) contributes via Educators in VR, on which ze connects educational professionals.
  • Science journalist Diederik Jekel (TN ‘10) still regularly posts (Dutch) updates about the coronavirus in everyday ‘people’ language.
