Getting out of coal - A region and a country with ambition

Matthias Wessling performs fundamental research in the field of membrane technology and polymer research. Wessling’s research made it possible to precisely adjust the functionality of a membrane and to analyse and understand the resulting mechanisms of action. The results of his research are, among others, used to improve kidney dialysis. In his lecture, Matthias Wessling will focus on a different part of his research, which is the production of fuel cells.

Matthias Wessling received his PhD at the University of Twente in 1993, and is currently working as Vice Rector of Research at the RWTH Aachen University, and is a guest professor at the Soft matter, Fluidics and Interfaces group at the University of Twente's MESA+ Institute.
