#EUvsVirus: UT supports European hackathon for corona solutions

University of Twente is supporting the #EUvsVirus hackathon on 24, 25 and 26 April, as part of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU). This pan-European hackathon is organized by the European Commission to develop innovative solutions together for coronavirus-related challenges. On behalf of the UT, DesignLab is involved to connect communities and provide guidance during the hackathon.

EU hackathon

The hackathon connects civil society, universities, innovators, partners and investors from all member states in Europe. Led by the European Innovation Council, it is structured around categories of challenges that need short-term solutions in relation to coronavirus health and life, business continuity, remote working and education, social & political cohesion, digital finance and an open category for other challenges.

DesignLab: endorser, connector, mentor

Being a partner in the hackathon, DesignLab engages our networks to enlarge the pool of creative and innovative minds participating in the hackathon. Also, DesignLab offers mentorship and guidance during the hackathon itself.

Shared challenges ask for shared forces

As UT’s experimental ecosystem focusing on innovative solutions for societal challenges, DesignLab University of Twente feels strongly about contributing to this initiative. “The coronavirus has a tremendous impact on our lives, globally. This is the time to bring together power from different disciplines and parts of society; together we can make a difference”, says Sabine Wildevuur, DesignLab’s director. She emphasizes the need for broad collaboration, with people from inside and outside of the UT."

Join the hackathon

It is still possible to register for the hackathon. Students, citizens, researchers, partners – everyone’s input is welcome. For more information and registration, please check the EUvsVirus Hackathon website.
