First UT Model United Nations on Campus

Students of the University of Twente will organize the first Model United Nations (UT MUN) at the UT from 12 to 14 May 2017.

They feel that politics should be part of a technical university as well. Hundreds of participants will be given an opportunity to leave their mark on the most important issues in today’s society.

The UT MUN adds its own twist to the event by integrating the well-known “High Tech Human Touch” into the political landscape. The students aim to strengthen the connection between the social and technical studies at the university. All over the world, Model United Nations have proven to be an inspiring and motivating experience. And last but not least, it really looks good on a student’s CV!

The students will discuss, among other things, topics such as sexual violence in conflict areas, deployment of military drones, atomic radiation and nuclear energy, drugs and crime, and environmental pollution.

Jan Eggenkamp (Press UT MUN): “We are looking forward to this MUN, because this will be the first time that students of a technical university will be debating in this way for days.”
