The University of Twente has published its new institutional plan. Entitled The entrepreneurial university: stronger together, the plan outlines the university’s direction for the period 2026–2032.
The institutional plan shows how we translate our mission, vision and values into concrete ambitions and choices. In doing so, we build on what has characterised the University of Twente for the past 65 years: entrepreneurship, collaboration, and the ambition to contribute to solutions for societal challenges through education, research and innovation.
In the coming years, we will focus on strengthening our impact in four domains where UT can make a distinctive contribution: climate, health, safety & security, and chip technology. At the same time, talent development, high-quality education and pioneering research will remain key pillars of our university.
The institutional plan was developed with input from staff, students and external partners. It provides a shared framework for the choices we make in the years ahead and for the further development of the university.
From plan to practice
Many of the ambitions set out in the institutional plan are already underway. Across the university, initiatives and developments are contributing to the direction described in the plan. The institutional plan brings these efforts together and provides a clear framework for the further development of UT.
In the coming period, a range of activities will be organised to further explain the plan and facilitate discussion about its ambitions. Ultimately, however, the institutional plan will take shape in practice: within faculties, service departments, degree programmes, research groups and teams. It is there that the ambitions and choices set out in the plan will be translated into concrete actions and developments in the years ahead.
