De Pakkerij temporarily closed due to necessary safety measures

De Pakkerij, the shared building for student associations of the University of Twente in the centre of Enschede, has been temporarily closed. A periodic inspection carried out by UT experts has shown that the current situation does not meet the applicable requirements in the areas of (fire) safety, hygiene and manageability.

As a precautionary measure, the building has therefore been closed with immediate effect. The closure will initially remain in place for three weeks. During this period, the building’s users will work together with the university on the necessary improvements. If these measures are completed earlier and the building once again meets the required standards, De Pakkerij may reopen sooner.

The closure will have an impact on the student associations and other users of the building. Activities will need to be relocated or adjusted, which requires flexibility from everyone involved. At the same time, the safety of users and visitors must come first. For that reason, it is necessary to first implement the required measures, so that De Pakkerij can once again be used in a safe and responsible manner.
