Molecular biology, protein engineering and microbiology inside the molecule center: a way for an interdisciplinary research

Abstract:

Molecular biology and protein engineering are wonderful tools to understand mechanisms at a fundamental level and to build new material at a applied level. This talk will show how from fundamental science on understanding the function of specific mechanisms in bacteria we arrive in a more interdisciplinary sphere working on the development of new antibiotics and new carriers, and on the understanding of the way to enter bacteria to tackle the crucial problem of antibiotic resistance.

In this talk I will focus on our new project on the development of new antibiotics and new carriers. I will also present some associated relevant side projects either accomplished or in preparation, such as the use of protein cages to study charge transport, or the use of bacteria as source of energy in micro-robot.
