Symposium: A Positive Outlook on Negative Emissions Negative Emission Technology at the UT

Climate change is one of the great societal challenges of our time. To help prevent dramatic consequences of climate change and global warming, sustainability, emission reduction and resilience are high on the UT research agenda. However, we need to do more than only reducing current emissions: it is becoming more and more clear that CO2 needs to be removed from the atmosphere at a large scale.

Because of this, the MESA+ institute is now starting a new research programme to develop such Negative Emission Technologies (NET). A symposium is organised on June 24 from 11:00-17:00 hr to kickoff this initiative. UT-researchers and representatives from companies and other research institutes are kindly invited to join this event to see what research initiatives will be initiated soon at the University of Twente for a positive outlook on negative emissions, and to share your own ideas on this issue.

The day will include two inspiring keynotes from Gert-Jan Reichart from Utrecht University and NIOZ and Andre Faaij from the University of Groningen and Director of Science at ECN – part of TNO.
