Erosion caused by cavitation is a wear phenomenon that is caused by imploding bubbles in liquids. These bubbles implode due to local pressure differences in the liquid, and the continuous impact of these implosions can cause severe wear to surfaces. To study the resulting cavitation erosion, the laboratory has a special set-up.
