AI-Powered Support in the UTQ Introducing the Library of Alexandria

A new pilot is bringing on-demand guidance to participants in our University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) course 1.

This semester, the UTQ programme is launching an exciting pilot: an AI tutor named the Library of Alexandria, available directly within the course environment of Course 1, Designing a lesson and a course. Participants can now ask the Library of Alexandria questions about course content, assignments and teaching concepts, at any time, and at their own pace.

The Library of Alexandria serves as a knowledgeable companion throughout the UTQ journey, offering explanations, suggesting relevant literature, and helping participants connect course material to their own teaching context.

What can you ask? Participants can use the Library of Alexandria for a wide range of questions, such as:

• Ask you to probe questions about the subject you are studying. 
• Help you explain your reasoning step by step. 
• Challenge your assumptions and help you see alternative perspectives. 
• Help you prepare for discussions, essays, and assignments by testing your understanding

Why a pilot? We believe AI tools can meaningfully support professional development in education, but we want to learn from real use before scaling up. During this pilot, we will gather feedback from participants and facilitators to understand what works well, where the AI adds value, and where human guidance remains essential.
