Study Programme

On this page, you can find information on the way you can shape your curriculum. Examples of alumni will be given as well as prestructured course packages, graduation topics, internship companies and all sorts of other sneak previews in possible future occupations. Contacting the master coordinator when you have suggestions for content or improvements is very much appreciated.

APPROVING THE COURSE PROGRAMME

A choice of courses becomes a course programme once the Course Form (see "Important Documents") has been filled in, approved, and signed by the programme mentor. They have the authority to refuse the choice of courses even if the choice of units is within the limitations of the requirements listed. In some cases, the admissions board may issue a certificate of admission with additional requirements. You can contact the programme coordinator for advice on your course programme beforehand.

  • General structure

The two-year Master’s in Interaction Technology consists of six pillars and is taught entirely in English. Below you can see the structure of the programme; each segment represents 5EC. During their first quarter, students have to take Foundations of Interaction Technology (2.5EC Technology, 2.5EC Understanding Humans and Context) and one course out of the Technology pillar. All courses are assigned to one (5EC) or two pillars (2.5EC per pillar) according to the overview below (unless stated otherwise).

To allow students more flexibility in filling in all the pillars and - simultaneously - to specialize in the knowledge domain of their choice, we offer the following possibilities:

    • Capita Selecta Interaction Technology (5EC): This can enable the student to deepen their knowledge in a topic of choice. The student is responsible for finding a supervisor and preparing a proposal with clear goals for this course, which the supervisor should agree with before the start of the course.
    • Internship (max. 5EC per pillar, max. two pillars): The assignment of EC points is done after consultation with the programme mentor and a supervisor. The decision to which pillar the EC’s will be assigned will depend upon the focus and content of an internship. The requirement is that a student dedicates a substantial part of the internship (and thus report) to the chosen pillar(s) and spends an adequate number of hours on the topic of that pillar. An agreement needs to be made with a supervisor who will grade that part of a report before the internship starts.
    • Final Project (max. 5EC per pillar, max. two pillars): Students can assign max. 10EC out of the total 30EC that are received for the final project to max. two pillars. The assignment of EC points needs to be approved by the programme mentor in consultation with the supervisor of the Final Project.
  • Tips on how to choose courses!

Choosing from so many courses and finding a clear focus in your curriculum can be difficult. We want to give you some tips on how to get started!

    • Plan 15EC in each block, preferably one Technology course each quartile. All courses are 5EC unless stated otherwise. You can use the Course Form in the Important Documents section on this page.
    • Advanced courses and projects can belong to different pillars depending on the project (TBD) and can only be done after finishing the corresponding introductory course.
    • It is possible to do an internship in your second year to deepen your knowledge of specific courses.
