If you plan on going abroad, a scholarship just may be available. Check out the scholarships below to see which possibilities apply to you. If you've found a suitable scholarship, then discuss with your supervisor whether a visit to a foreign university would be a good investment to expand your knowledge and experience.
The Erasmus+ staff mobility programme is intended for teachers who wish to execute an educational assignment or for staff members (WP and OBP) who wish to follow a training course or internship at one of the Erasmus+ partner institutions or organisations in an Erasmus+ programme country. The duration can vary from 2 days to a maximum of 60 days and the compensation varies per country and depends on availability.
The ECIU staff mobility programme intended for support staff employees who would like to expand their knowledge and experience with a visit to one of the ECIU universities. This can be in the form of a short visit or during a longer internship. Each year, there are 5 encouragement scholarships of €1500 available.
The Fulbright programme makes scholarships available each year to scientists who wish to teach in the US (Fulbright is only available to Dutch employees, therefore this specific scholarship information is only available in Dutch). The minimum stay in the US is 3 months. The scholarship amounts to a maximum of $13,000 for senior scientists and a maximum of $9000 for junior scientists.
Within the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions scholarships are made available to talented, experienced researchers (PhDs) with the aim of improving career prospects. An Individual Fellowship offers the possibility of conducting research for a period of between 12 and 24 months at an institute either within or outside Europe. The scholarship covers travel and accommodation expenses, for example, and is paid out to the host organization. For advice and support with the application, please contact the EU Office:
