Spring Week 2014

Get that body moving and shake the cobwebs out of your body and mind!

Once again this year, during the Spring Week between Monday 19 and Friday 23 May, we will be organizing various activities, both physical and mental ones. You need to sign up before 14 May in order to be able to participate in most of the activities.

Location: Central hall of the Sports Centre

Campus300 is fitness training, highly accessible and suitable for everyone! The unique facilities of the campus will be used during the fitness training. Creative use will be made of many locations throughout the campus. Each workout will be different! Exercise for an hour in the beautiful surroundings of the campus after your working day, so you can head home feeling satisfied!

Come and experience Campus300, sign up and receive a Campus300 T-shirt that will entitle you to participate in the program for up to five times. The T-shirt has unlimited validity, so you can take part on days that suit you!

GPS hike on Campus


Monday 19 May
Time: 12:00-13:30
Location: O&O square
Maximum number of participants: 20

OpenStreetMap is a crowd source project that creates and distributes free geographic data and maps of the world. Everyone can contribute to it.

Take part in the mid-day hike and learn how to contribute by mapping objects on Campus!

You will be equipped with mobile devices (smartphones or tablets with GPS) and receive guidance from faculty ITC staff. Not only will you be joining in a healthy hike, but you will also be learning more about GPS technology and mapping techniques.

Lunch is included.

Bicycle repairs



Monday 19 May
Time: 8:30-16:00
Location: Bastille field (field next to the Bastille building)
No registration necessary

On Monday you can bring your bicycle for small repairs (a flat tyre, defective lights, brake adjustments, etc.). Just show Ten Tusscher bicycle shop your STAFF CARD, and they will carry out the repairs. Major repairs can only be done in consultation with the bicycle repair shop and will be at your own expense. Bring your bicycle at the start of the day (from 08:30) or during your break and arrange the time at which you will come and pick it up again. N.B. Your bike must have been picked up before 16:00.


Tuesday 20 May

Location: Vrijhof Culture Department, meeting room 3

The maximum number of participants for this activity is reached. Registration is no longer possible.

Dutch will be spoken during this activity.
Mindfulness is a state of awareness, whereby participants focus their attention in order to fully experience each and every moment. Learn how to carry out all daily routines and activities in a state of calm awareness. During the course in mindfulness, participants are taught to relax, to explore their thoughts, feelings and sensations and to think positively. Mindfulness training brings total harmony to the body and mind. Other positive effects include improved concentration, self-acceptance, confidence, fulfilment and a state of happiness. Though the roots of mindfulness can be found in ancient Eastern traditions of wisdom, particularly in India and China, today it is still very much alive and still widely practised! The course is based on the idea that prevention is better than cure, and it can be considered suitable for everyone.

Location: outdoor shooting range, behind apartment complex ‘Box’
Maximum number of participants: 20

Would you like to have the Robin Hood experience?!

The highly experienced and enthusiastic instructors of our own Archery association, Sagittarius, will be there to introduce you to the exciting sport of Archery.

The coaches will provide personal guidance; all necessary equipment will be available.

The workshop will be held at the outdoor shooting range, located behind the Box apartment complex. Archery; bulls eye!

In the event of bad weather, archery will unfortunately not take place, but this will be announced in good time.
