HEALTH WEEK 28 May - 1 June

Visit the Healthy Week, which will focus on nutrition, health and relaxation, from 28 May to 1 June. Healthy Week has been completely reformed this year, now taking place in the spring instead of in the autumn.
You are cordially invited to take part in the activities UT is organising for its employees.  

The main theme this week is NUTRITION. You will find a list of all lectures in the programme. In addition to these lectures, you can visit the HEALTHY MARKET, located in various buildings from Monday to Thursday. There will be stands at the Healthy Market to provide information on physical and psychological health. Take the time to enjoy some healthy international snacks and discover the range of products offered by De Viermarken care farm.

Annual CHOLESTEROL AND GLUCOSE LEVEL TESTS AND BLOOD PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS will also take place in the spring this year.

Alex van Ginneken (1978) is an entrepreneur and online business coach. He has built a number of  companies and has written a successful series of books on online marketing. It is his passion to help  his customers grow their business and coach them to success. For Alex, the essence of being an entrepreneur is putting your heart into it, to be able to establish something you are fully committed to, in a healthy balanced way with the world around you. He therefore considers his business as an important part of his life, inseparable from the rest. That is why he does everything in his life according to the same philosophy: think BIG, start small, scale fast: his red thread of life.

Each day, Alex aims to get the most out of life, for himself and for others. He strongly believes that none of us should ever quit learning and growing. Therefore, he is constantly discovering how to learn new habits he believes that help him forward. Alex participates in a number of companies including superfood.nl. He notices that the Dutch and European health market is strongly and rapidly changing, more and more people, including children and teenagers, start to eat healthier.

In his keynote ‘Daily habits and a healthy lifestyle’, Alex will delve deeper into his daily habits. He will show in what way a different, healthier lifestyle, like a vegetarian diet and daily meditation, increases his daily mental and physical energy. He will also provide some practical tips, including in the field of healthy eating, his audience is able to take up quickly.

Titia van der Stelt, sports dietician and movement scientist is one of the authors of the book 'Eat as an Athlete', owner of her dietician practice Voedingconditie and head-nutriton experts of the professional cycling team Team Sunweb. Titia is going to tell something about the relation between sport and nutrition, how it works in the body, what you can do yourself and how Tom Dumoulin and collegueas are handeling their nutrition in the world of professional cycling.

Ik worstel mijn hele leven al met mijn gewicht, ik heb last gehad van eetbuien, veel diëten geprobeerd, maar elke keer na het afvallen, kwam ik weer kilo’s aan. De laatste jaren kan ik het gewicht redelijk onder controle houden door te sporten.

YOGA AND MEDITATION Ron ten Voorde
(Tuesday 29 May, Wednesday 30 May, Thursday 31 May)

Many people start doing yoga for its physical benefits. Back pain and neck and shoulder complaints are often among the main reasons. Stress is also an important reason to roll out the yoga mat occasionally. Yoga has many benefits – it enhances flexibility, strength, posture, concentration, breathing, and sleep. Come to the Healthy Market for more information on yoga, meditation, and the range of options UT has to offer its employees and students.

Ron ten Voorde teaches yoga and meditation at the Sports Centre and has his own yoga studio.

"Yoga is an interplay between tension and relaxation in which the physical, emotional, and mental aspects are interrelated. These experiences have given me a lot of insight and have brought me to the point I am at now. I aim to pass on what I have learned with passion and commitment. I hope everyone gets to feel the powerful sensation and the energy released when you practice yoga. I know from experience that it’s not pleasant to be unfit and restless. In my lessons, I draw on my own experience to help you."
