Employees with a broad knowledge who are capable of performing a variety of tasks are able to get the most out of themselves and their work and have less difficulty fulfilling another position, be it inside or outside their present organization. It is up to both the member of staff's superior and the HR department to provide the employee with optimum support in working on their career development.
