This website is intended for current MSc Humanitarian Engineering students and University of Twente staff. As a student in the programme, it can be helpful to understand how the different courses, projects, and specialisation opportunities fit together. This page provides an overview of the programme structure and its three core domains. Prospective students are encouraged to visit theĀ website for prospective master's students.
The MSc Humanitarian Engineering is a two-year programme comprising 120 EC. During the first year, students follow nine compulsory courses, including four project-based components, alongside three elective courses. In the second year, students further develop their knowledge and competences through either additional elective courses or an internship, where they apply their skills in a professional setting. The remainder of the programme consists of a 45 EC master's graduation project.

The programme is built around three core domains: Humanitarian Aid Engineering, Resilience Engineering, and Sustainable & Responsible Entrepreneurship. During the first year, students engage with all three domains to develop a broad understanding of humanitarian engineering. In the second year, students have the opportunity to further specialise in one or more domains through their choice of electives, internship, and graduation project.
