Additive World 2020

The 8th edition of the Additive World Conference moved the conference to the digital space. This way attendees did not have to miss the conference while still adhering to the company policies and regulations and stay safe!

Watch the on-demand as Dr. Ian Gibson, scientific director of the Fraunhofer Project Centre at the University of Twente shares how the Fraunhofer Project Center is helping the local industries to manage the transition to Manufacturing 4.0 through the adaption of additive manufacturing

Taking AM Seriously

In his talk, Ian will start by describing the Fraunhofer Project Center (FPC) at the University of Twente. This is the first Dutch Fraunhofer and focuses on advanced manufacturing-related applications research. Additive Manufacturing is a key element of this, where the aim is to enable the manufacturing industry to make an effective transition towards direct manufacturing using AM. Ian will go on to describe the approach FPC is taking, with particular emphasis on the integration of technologies and why FPC is partnering with Additive Industries.

Dr. Gibson has been researching into additive manufacturing since the early 1990s and has published over 200 articles on related topics. He is best known as the editor of the Rapid Prototyping Journal and author of the Springer book "Additive Manufacturing Technologies". His current focus is on the transition of AM from stand-alone prototyping and product development technology into a fully integrated, production-ready technology.
