- Food Industry Leader: Domino's Project
A team of six students worked for a duration of nine months on the development of innovative concept designs for Domino’s Enterprise. The goal of the project was to analyse the company’s operations and identify areas were new technologies could be proven beneficial; for example, minimization of errors, reduction of waste, influencing customer experience, increasing speed and efficiency. The solutions were developed through the means of Industry 4.0 elements, process automation and digitization.
The students were equipped with knowledge in process integration and analysis, 3D modelling, smart system modelling, business model and strategy, to assure the quality of the work experts from FPC worked closely together with the students.
The deliverable of the project was the research and development of multiple concept designs together with an in-depth list of benefits, and technical report for each specific concept.
- Regional Energy Strategy (RES) Twente project
A team of three students worked for a duration of three months with the province of Overijssel on an Interface development project. In alignment with the RES Twente goals for 2030, FEST has created an interactive interface to support the facilitation of the decision-making meetings of RES Twente. It simulates the direct effects and results caused by the decisions made by the stakeholders in real time.
A follow up project with RES West-Overijssel emerged, where a similar interface was created and later made available to the public, to support the Province of Overijssel to be transparent towards its community. The public can become aware of the potential implications of different decisions by allowing them to play with different parameters in their internet browser and understand the complexity of the decisions that have been made regarding sustainable energy (https://www.res-twente-tool.nl/).
- Product Lifecycle Managment
Product Lifecycle Management
One of the first FEST projects is the collaboration with the master course Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), from the master Industrial Design Engineering. The course is centered around information management strategies in product development.
FEST has connected four companies to the course with interesting cases. The students following the course will work in teams on these cases, applying the latest research in a real life situation.
- FPC inside 2019
FPC Inside 2019
On Thursday, September 19th 2019, the FPC Inside event took place. This event was organized by the FEST (FPC Expertise Student Team) in order to enable University staff and students, government and development agencies to get deeper understanding of what Fraunhofer Project Center (FPC) is, does and what are the plans for the future.
In the first part on the event, presentations were given by prof. dr. Ian Gibson, dr. Thomas Vollmer, dr.ir. Eric Lutters and dr. Biba Visnjicki followed by a series of questions in a panel setting. In the second part, Demitriana Minassian introduced FEST and the Advanced Manufacturing Program (AMP) was introduced by program leaders Maaike Slot and Jornt van Dijk.
