“Talented scientists and the leaking pipeline in academia”

Prof. Ramirez will share his research findings as well as practical experiences as a member of the Taskforce for Gender and Leadership at Stanford about the international trends of female scientists in STEM as well as on the measures universities take to address the leaky pipeline syndrome in academia.


Prof. Ramirez is professor of Education and by Sociology at Stanford University. He has been a member of Advisory committee of Stanford International Initiative, member of the Task Force on Women's Leadership at Stanford and is a member of Sociologists for Women in Society. His research among other things has focused on gender effects in Higher Education across the world, including the patterns of women’s access to higher education, the transformation in the status of women in society and in higher education institutions. In this lunch discussion we will reflect about lessons learnt from the American higher education system how do to stop the leaking pipeline in academia. The discussion will involve also the view based on the UT situation by Prof. van Steen, CTIT Research Director.
