Film "Gender in communication" March 31th

The Female Faculty Network Twente is inviting you to a film presentation on:

“Gender differences in communication”

by Deborah Tannen

on Tuesday 31 March from 15.30 till 16.30 hrs.

in the Blomzaal in building the Faculty Club

After the film and discussion there will be a Netwerkborrel from 16.30 hrs. in the Proffenbar.

So if you are not able to attend the film, you are very welcome to come to the borrel.

This film reports on research in communication differences between men and women. Although the film is from the eighties (people have big glasses), and the research is done in the US, the pattern shown are universal (for our cultures). The film is based on range of examples taken from observation of communication of children, and videotaping of work-floor situations. On one hand, the situations are quite recognisable, sometimes also having a funny aspect. On the other hand, making the difference of communication pattern explicit helps to recognise them in your own environment, and gives means to deal with them.

After the film, we want to discuss this film, and what we can do with the lessons learnt.

Please reply if you want to join this film presentation (or borrel) by sending an e-mail to: FFNT@utwente.nl

FFNT aims to support the professional development of women in academia and to provide a network for sharing and exchanging experience. It develops workshops and lectures specially for women and also organises activities aimed at women jointly with PA&O (whose activities are otherwise gender neutral).
