The Honours Programme is a special programme at the University of Twente and is more demanding than regular courses. For this reason, you need to follow a selection procedure before you can take part in the programme.
During the procedure, not only your study results and achievements, but also your motivation is important. Excellent grades do therefore not always lead to direct admission. This is because we expect quite a lot of input from your side and you need to have the will to get everything out of the programme all by yourself. Nevertheless, results also play a role as we expect that you will not have any troubles completing your regular studies while following the programme. Therefore, there are minimum requirements (see below) you need to meet if you want to take part in the programme.
If you want to apply, please use the application form.
The selection procedure is made up of two aspects: a written motivation (which can be completed on the application form above), and an interview. When you meet the requirements at the bottom of this page, you can fill in the application form and with it your written motivation. The deadline for this form is 11 January 2016. Based on this you will probably be invited for an interview at the end of January. After this interview, we will inform you if you can participate in the programme or not.
There will be an information lunch at 6 January 2016 in Ravelijn 1501. Then, the dean of the programme, several students that are currently taking part in (or have already completed) the programme, and a representative of study association Ockham will tell something about the programme. Moreover, some of the lecturers participating in the course will also be there, as will some of the products the groups of the last years produced. If you want to come, please send an e-mail to F.J.Dijksterhuis@utwente.nl.
If you still have any questions regarding the programme and its contents you can always write to Fokko Jan Dijksterhuis (F.J.Dijksterhuis@utwente.nl).
To participate in the Honours Programme you need to belong to some of the best students of your study. At the start of the Honours programme, you need to have successfully completed the first and second quartile of your first year, unless you are able to show that you have legitimate reasons not to have this (like activism, illness, etc.) Besides, you need to have a considerable amount of free time besides your regular studies to follow the programme. Of course, it is always good to support your application by attaching a letter of recommendation, an essay, etc.

“The Honours Programme is an eye-opener. It is beautiful to see and experience how individuals of various disciplines look fundamentally different at problems.”
