As a follow-up to Gerlinda Heywegen's lecture on 12 May, Concordia is showing a film that illustrates what she means by a “gentle” film. The Quiet Girl (An Cailín Ciúin, 2022, 136 min) gives us, the audience, plenty of space. You can clearly see how a girl can “land” in a new environment. Slowly, you empathise with her and notice that she – just as she is – finds her place in the world. Somewhere in the Irish countryside.
