How can the Ministry of Defence become more effective? WEEK OF INSPIRATION

Things are in quite the state on the global political stage. Wars and conflicts between countries, ethnic groups, political leaders… everything seems to be in a constant state of flux. For the Ministry of Defence, this means it must adapt more quickly to the current situation. How do you transform such a cumbersome organisation – comparable to the University of Twente – into one that can operate more swiftly and is more ‘warfighting capable’? Different ways of working and decision-making seem logical, but what about different weapons, a more rapid collaboration within NATO, or a greater emphasis on cybersecurity? And what does this volatile geopolitical landscape mean for Dutch citizens? Brigadier General Nicole de Wolf focuses on the changes within the Ministry of Defence. She is also Commander of the Land Operational Support Command and one of the highest-ranking female military officers.
