The Opening of the Academic Progamme is an annually returning highlight on the agenda of the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente.
This year the official ceremony takes place on Thursday 28 September 2017 in the Wilmersbergzaal, Muziekcentrum, Noorderhagen in Enschede. After the official programme a reception will be held in the Foyer of the Muziekcentrum.
Programme
From 14.15h until 15.00h, there will be a welcome reception with coffee and tea in the Foyer.
The official programme starts at 15.00h in the Wilmersbergzaal, with:

Opening and words of welcome - Appau William Miller , President, Student Association Board
Words of welcome to new students - Professor Tom Veldkamp
Presentation of the ITC Research Award for the best scientific paper by a PhD student - Musical Interlude
- Early warning – last resort in a changing climate
Schermerhorn Lecture by Prof. dr. Gerard van der Steenhoven, Director General of the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), The Netherlands
From 16.30h, the programme will be concluded with a reception in the Foyer.
ITC students are invited to wear traditional dress.
