Title: Understanding the economics of water use, allocation and trade: Showing the added value of applying different analytical tools”.
Period: 2011 – Present
The objective of this research is to apply different analytical tools in order to increase the economic understanding of water use, allocation and trade and show the added value of using those different tools together. The four tools are: econometric regression analysing the relation between trade and water scarcity, the water footprint assessment, the environmentally extended input-output modelling and the comparative advantage analysis.
Scientific innovation of this research are to better integrate economic analysis in the water footprint assessment methodology, bring fresh water into input-output analysis for the case of Tunisia and extend comparative advantage analysis with the factor water.
