Title: Simulating the water footprint of woodies in Aquacrop en Apex

The simulation of woody plants is important in global water (footprint) studies. Two widely applied models, Aquacrop and Apex, both have their (theoretical) limitations; Aquacrop is not designed for the simulation of woody plants while Apex is suppose to be less stable under changing conditions. By comparing the two for a selected number of plants under various conditions, their suitability to be applied in global studies for the simulation of woody plants is analysed.
