Virtual water and nutrient flows in international trade. Because of the spatial heterogeneity of resource productivity, the environmental impact of producing food is totally different and highly dependent on the location of production. International food trade can reduce the issue of environmental impacts including water, land and soil. During the visiting in the university of Twente, I address the topic by assessing the environmental impacts of international food trade and trying to evaluate the international trade as one of the strategies for addressing the dual challenges of increasing food demand and environmental problems in China.
During my PhD period, I also study on water pollution in agricultural ecosystem by calculating the grey water footprint.
