Karst Geurs has been appointed as the new chair of NECTAR (Network on European Communications and Transport Activity Research) starting January 1, 2014. NECTAR is a scientific network of researchers in field of transport, communication and mobility.
NECTAR is an association established in 1992 which emerged from the European Science Foundation Network. The primary objective is to foster research collaboration and exchange of information between experts in the field of transport, communication and mobility from all European countries and the rest of the world.
NECTAR is a multidisciplinary social science network. It brings together a wide variety of standpoints on transport and communication problems and their impacts on society in an international perspective.
NECTAR is organised in clusters dealing with specific research topics as such as transport networks, policy and evironment, logistics and freight, commuting, accessibility and transport security.
