The final event of the HTAS Connected Cruise Control project will be held in Helmond, the 26th of March. Theme of the event: "Reducing congestion using Connected Cruise Control".
Connected Cruise Control system is the first of its kind system, aiming to give tactical driving advice on headway, speed and lane choice based on downstream traffic flow conditions. The HTAS project Connected Cruise Control has developed and demonstrated the CCC system in real traffic. The backbone of the overall system implementation was an in-vehicle telematics platform with GPRS communication with a back office system collecting and processing traffic data. The traffic flow prediction and driver advice module were successfully implemented as well the Human Machine Interface in the vehicle. Drivers highly appreciate the CCC advice and traffic flow simulations show potential delay reductions up to some 30%.
