Carissa is a PhD researcher working on Co-designing Planning Support Systems, a bi-national Dutch-German project funded by the INTERREG program seeking to streamline municipal planning processes by developing a holistic toolkit to better support the renovation and revitalization of urban and rural spaces. Her previous research experience centered primarily on low-emission land-use and transport interactions in urban environments with thematic studies on user perspectives in mobility behaviors and reactivated infrastructures, all during her time at the Chair of Integrated Transport Planning (IVP), Technische Universität Berlin.
Before joining the University of Twente, Carissa worked as an urban planner in Berlin, Germany where she founded an international consultancy centered on urban networks of innovation and knowledge transfer and lectured for the Urban Management Studies professional Masters Program at the TU Berlin. She holds an MSc in Urban Management and an MSc in International Trade and Development, which she received while working for the United States Peace Corps.
