Production of SynOil by catalytic flash pyrolysis of biomass in a cyclonic reactor

Research Description


The project target is the development of an efficient reactor system for conversion of biomass to value added and sustainable fuels, both of which are mandatory for future energy requirements. This will assist in meeting the demand for the usage of the bio-fuels in combination with conventional fuels according to the directives of the European Union. Thermal conversion of solid biomass into a liquid bio-oil (Pyrolysis-oil) can be achieved by flash-pyrolysis. The central theme of this project is to establish ways to improve the quality of pyrolysis-oil by developing a cyclonic pyrolysis reactor with an integrated high-efficient rotating particle filter and a catalyst regenerator. Different catalysts will be studied for selective catalytic deoxygenation of biomass.
