NWO funds COVID-19 project on mobility
The Dutch national research council (NWO-ZonMW) has award the research proposal ‘MOCOLODO: Mobility during and after LOckDOwn’ within the COVID-19 programme on Societal Dynamics.
This project is about the impact that Corona lockdown has had on travel behaviour, and the performance of the (public) transport system. With this, efficient, effective and fair strategies for the transport system are designed, in times of easing or strengthening of Corona measures. Finally, it is researched how this can be achieved while maintaining societal objectives as sustainability, energy transition, accessibility and equity.
This two-year project is executed by the 5 universities of the NWO-groot UMO (Urban Mobility Observatory) consortium, i.e. Amsterdam (VU), Groningen, Utrecht, Delft and Twente and several societal partners. For UT the project is led by prof Eric van Berkum from the Transport Engineering and Management group, Department of Civil Engineering.
