The SANTOSS project is a joint research project of the University of Twente, The Netherlands and the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. The primary research aim is to establish a new ‘ semi-empirical’ model for sand transport near the sea bed in the coastal marine environment. The research carried out in the Netherlands is funded by the Netherlands Technology Foundation (STW), while the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) supports the research carried out in the UK by the Aberdeen team. Additional research partners are the University of Liverpool, Bangor University and Deltares.
