On 11 June, the first UT Manufacturing Day took place at The Gallery, bringing together researchers, staff and partners from across the university to share knowledge and explore new opportunities for collaboration in manufacturing.
The event highlighted the breadth of manufacturing activities at UT and their contribution to many of the university’s impact themes. The day opened with presentations from industrial partners including VDL, ASML, Thales and the Green Steel Growth Fund project. During a panel discussion, they shared perspectives on current manufacturing challenges and opportunities for stronger collaboration between academia and industry.
In the afternoon, participants gained an overview of manufacturing-related research across UT. Interactive cluster and matchmaking sessions helped participants identify shared interests, connect expertise and explore ideas for future initiatives.
Looking ahead
One of the key outcomes of the day was a clearer picture of manufacturing expertise, activities and stakeholders across UT. The discussions revealed common research themes and new opportunities for collaboration between groups that had not previously been connected.
By bringing people, knowledge and ideas together, the first UT Manufacturing Day marked an important step in strengthening manufacturing research, education and innovation at UT. The insights and connections created during the event will be taken forward in future initiatives across the UT community.
