Ministry approves BSc in Mechanical Engineering at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

This past March the University of Twente and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam announced a joint Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. The Ministry of Education this week approved the inception of the degree programme at the Amsterdam campus.

This is an important initial step, and both universities will now continue to work out the details and come to various agreements. The Executive Boards of the University of Twente and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam will make a final decision on launching the joint Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering by the end of August, subject to the approval of the participation bodies at the two institutions. The aim is to start recruiting students in September, and to start teaching the programme in September 2019. Students will spend one quarter of their time studying at UT’s Enschede campus.
