Bedrijvendagen Twente becomes more international Careers event for 2,000 students and 165 companies starts on 14 February

Bedrijvendagen Twente, the Netherlands’ largest careers event for students, is acquiring an international dimension.

This year, various English-language training courses will be given, and the participating companies will also be focusing on English-speaking students. The event, which is held on the UT campus, provides an opportunity for more than 2,000 students and 165 companies to get to know one another.

The Bedrijvendagen Twente has a dual purpose. On the one hand, it gives companies an opportunity to meet talented young people, with a view to possible internships or final projects. On the other hand, students can explore their job options and prepare for careers in business by attending training courses and lectures. In all, there are more than 80 scheduled activities.

On Tuesday 14 February, Bedrijvendagen Twente will kick-off with a Sweet Sugar Candyland, where students can register for the various activities. On 15 February, there will be a lunch-time lecture by radio DJ Gerard Ekdom, who will offer some useful career tips based on his own experiences. The programme for the following day features the Big Network Show. Using an energetic, interactive approach, businessman Joep Stassen shows students the importance of networking. He will engage with the audience in an attempt to create an instant network.

This careers event has also been designed with first-year and second-year students in mind. On 27 February, during the introductory week, they will have the opportunity to attend a workshop. The training course provides some important tips for your CV, and shows you how to write a CV that stands out from the rest. One of the highlights of the Bedrijvendagen Twente is the Careers Fair on 1-2 March. The 145 participating companies will be giving presentations, and will be keen to meet talented students.

During the preparatory week, various types of training courses will be in the spotlight. The Student Prep, on 7 March, will feature the following four workshops: Successfully Applying for Jobs, Towards Tranquillity (including meditation techniques), The ‘Me’ Brand (personal branding), and a LinkedIn workshop. On the following day, workshops are scheduled for students taking medical and non-technical programmes. These workshops are hosted by six companies, from different sectors. On 9 March, the Business Etiquette Workshop will teach students the ins and outs of business etiquette.

The Ambition Weeks (14-16 March and 21-23 March) involve more intensive contact between the students and the companies. That can take place during personal interviews, training courses and lunches, as well as in more informal settings (high tea, escape room, cooking workshop). One of the new activities is the CEO drinks-party lecture on 15 March, which features the CEOs of two leading companies: Nedap and Shell. Nedap’s Ruben Wegman will discuss entrepreneurship, while Marjan van Loon of Shell Nederland will give a talk on energy transition.
