'Double degree' UT and Korean top institute Mechanical engineering

For Mechanical Engineering Master’s students, it is now possible to graduate both at the University of Twente and the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

An agreement on this so-called ‘double degree’ was signed today. Master’s students Mechanical Engineering choosing this option, do part of their study in Twente and the other part on the KAIST campus in Daejon, South-Korea. A Dutch student can start the programme in Twente, and finish his or her Master’s thesis at KAIST, for example.

Spending study time abroad is always a very valuable experience; the double degree clearly is more than a short trainee or exchange period. To be admitted to the programme, students  have to have finished their Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with results above average. Mechanical Engineering at UT already offers a double degree option with the Instituto Technológico de Aeronautica (ITA) in Brazil.

KAIST is a young research university, founded in 1971. It has an excellent reputation, as the most innovative Asian university. KAIST already cooperates with the University of Twente within several areas, including exchange programs for Human Media Interaction students.
