Good scores by ET programmes in Best Studies 2017

The qualitative leap made by the UT in the Best Studies comparison by Elsevier is also reflected in the assessment of the Engineering Technology programmes. The ET programmes received very satisfying scores.

Bachelor’s programmes

All three bachelor's programmes in Engineering Technology have made their way up the list. Mechanical Engineering (ME), Civil Engineering (CE) and Industrial Design (ID) are all rated first in their category.

Various aspects of the programmes are examined for the comparison. The bachelor's programmes all show a sharp increase in ratings regarding the aspect of Programme Design. Civil Engineering even moved up the list with regard to all six aspects: Facilities, Education, Programme Design, Teachers, Assessment, Organisation & Communication.

This year, the comparative research by Elsevier was especially focussed on the aspect of Teachers. This means that Elsevier compared the teacher evaluations by students from all funded higher professional and university programmes. The bachelor's programme in Mechanical Engineering was ranked tenth in the list of all 132 programmes that were compared: a wonderful result.

Master's programmes

The master’s programmes in Civil Engineering and Management (CEM), Industrial Design Engineering (IDE) and Sustainable Energy Technology (SET) have all gone up in ratings compared to last year. All three programmes scored more than 70 points. CEM showed the largest increase, with a significantly higher overall rating than last year, moving up the list with regard to all six aspects. The master's programme in Mechanical Engineering maintained its stable high rate of recent years.

Marjolein Dohmen-Janssen, portfolio holder Education of the ET faculty: “As a faculty, we are immensely proud that all three of our bachelor's programmes were rated first in their category and that the students highly value our master's programmes as well. Three of the five master's programmes even scored more than 70 points. We would like to thank all teachers for their enthusiasm and commitment.”

About the comparative research

The Best Studies comparison is conducted by Elsevier magazine and the ResearchNed research institute. The researchers use the results of the National Student Survey, which is conducted among students every year.
