RiverCare, where multiple actors work together

The RiverCare research programme studies the mid-term effects of some of the river interventions which were constructed as part of the Room for the River project.

RiverCare has been initiated by the Netherlands Centre for River studies (NCR), a cooperative network of governmental and independent research institutes and universities, and is lead by the University of Twente. RiverCare was granted in 2013 by the Technology Foundation (STW) of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) as part of the Perspectief programme, started effectively in 2014 and will end in December 2019. There are 16 PhD-students, 3 postdocs and 2 junior researchers working in RiverCare at 5 different universities in The Netherlands.

RiverCare researchers prepare a newsletter twice per year to keep you up to date on our progress. We also prepared the first out of four promotional videos to highlight our contribution from four different ‘theaters of research’.

This latest newsletter revolves around the topic of our first promotional video: ‘RiverCare, where multiple actors work together’. We share tips from our experiences in working with scientific and professional communities. We collaborate and work with multiple actors to:

·        Make sure that different needs are taking into account while restoring natural river processes.

·        Minimize maintenance and optimize benefits by monitoring implemented measures, combining different data and using advanced models

·        Apply RiverCare knowledge to international case studies

Join our mailing list or contact us (secretary@ncr-web.org) for additional information about RiverCare. Share our video and newsletter!
