Michael Viol, PhD
Program Manager Elastomer Competence Centre

Michael Viol was born in Tettnang/Germany on October 27 in 1964. He studied Chemistry at the RWTH Aachen University and obtained his diploma (Dipl. Chem.) in polymer chemistry in April 1994. With the thesis entitled “Selected coatings for the preservation of natural stone – a contribution“  he received his PhD degree from RWTH Aachen University in January 1998. After his PhD he worked at the company Freudenberg for more than ten years, finally as R&D manager for rubber materials. During this period he increased his rubber know-how by studying Rubber Technology at the University of Hannover from 2004 to 2005. After that, he built up a production for medical products as Chief Technology Officer for Helix Medical Europe from 2009 to 2012 intensifying his experiences with silicones and thermoplastics. He later became the Director Applied Technology Tire & Rubber at Evonik broadening his rubber know-how with the tire industry. His latest position was General Manager Elastomers at Nordmann, Rassmann GmbH, a Hamburg-based distributor for speciality chemicals. Michael joined the ETE group September 1st,  2019 being responsible for the Elastomer Competence Center as Program Manager.
