Dr. Pilar Bernal Ortega
PostDoc
Pilar Bernal was born in Valencia, Spain, on the 12th of April 1987. She studied “Chemical Engineering” at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and obtained her engineer diploma in June 2014. During her studies she got interested in plastics science which is seen e.g in the topic of his diploma thesis “Development of dielectric elastomers with electro-mechanical response using polyurethane and silicone composites”. Due to her interest in plastics and elastomers technology acquired during her bachelor degree, Pilar studied the Master degree “High specialization in Plastics and Rubber” at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP). Right after her studies Pilar obtained a governmental grant to develop a PhD at the Elastomers Group at the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology (ICTP, CSIC) in December 2015. The working title of her PhD was “Sulfur-modified carbon nanotubes for the development of rubber tire tread compounds”, defended successfully the 13ht of May of 2020. After finishing ger PhD, Pilar joined the Elastomer Technology & Engineering Group as a Postdoc at the University of Twente in December 2019.
