FAQ

Someone who wants to follow one or more courses of the regular education programme of the University of Twente but who is not registered for a full BSc or MSc programme. Registration as a contract student is possible for the courses as described on the LLL website

The requirements for registration are the following:

- For each course the approval of the programme coordinator is required

- Is entitled to: participate in the course(s) for which they are registered and to take the associated examinations, to take a maximum of one resit examination for each course not passed in the academic year of registration.

- Is registered for the period(s) in which the course(s) are scheduled and are being carried out.

- The costs charged are determined in advance and based on the number of EC credit points of the course

You have the responsibility to check if you meet the required pre-knowledge this based on the prerequisites indicated by teachers. This information is provided by teachers via Osiris and is available in advance.

If you want to register as a contract student you need to fill out the application form with a copy of a valid passport or ID-card (on which your personal details are clearly stated). 

After receiving your registration request, we will send an invoice to the e-mail address indicated on the form. We kindly request that you pay the amount due before the deadline.

You will only be registered after all conditions have been met, including payment of the fees. After you have registered as a contract student at the University of Twente, you will receive an email with login details details and a password. 

In order to register as a contract student, the costs charged are determined in advance, based on the number of ECTS credit points per course. These costs must be paid before the registration can be finalized. On the registration form, you can indicate where we can send the invoice.

The registration is two weeks before the start of the quartile in which the course is given. Depending on the quartile, the following applies for the 2024 -2025 academic year:

We have the following certificates:

1. Certificate of Participation: Awarded to students who have completed a course without a formal exam or assessment. This certificate confirms participation, but does not guarantee that the student has achieved the learning objectives.
2. Certificate of Completion: Awarded to students who have successfully completed a course, including the associated assessment. The certificate states the achieved learning objectives. 
3. Micro-Credential: Awarded to students who have successfully completed a course that falls within an (accredited) program, including the associated assessment.
