All projects involve risk. Organizations that better understand the nature of the risks and can manage them more effectively cannot only avoid unforeseen failures and disasters, but can work with tighter margins and less contingency, freeing resources for other endeavors and seizing opportunities. Research projects include the development and implementation of methods to better identify, assess and manage project risks and the development of risk simulation and risk maturity models. The research fits within the Centre for Risk Management, Safety and Security of the University of Twente. This centre aims to be an important player in the development and provision of knowledge, expertise and training the specific area of risk and safety management. The department plays a leading role in the Risk Management MSc education program.
