International workshop on the debt crisis and transport infrastructure PPPs
The EU COST PPP Network organized in cooperation with Bauhaus-Universität at Weimar on March 22 an international workshop on Public Private Partnerships (PPP) used to deliver transport infrastructure. It was stated that PPPs are complex contractual arrangements extending into an unpredictable future. The economic crisis has highlighted many shortcomings of these PPPs. Major question during the workshop was: Could the impact of the debt crisis have been limited through improved decision models and contractual processes, identification of critical success factors and KPIs? Key note speakers of the workshop were Frank Süsser (German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development), T. Böger (CEO of the Verkehrsinfrastrukturfinanzierungs gesellschaft), M. Pahlke (Bank Director and Head of Infrastructure Europe Department), Prof Dr Michael Garvin (Virginia Tech, USA), Prof. Dr. G. Dewulf and Dr. Hans Voordijk (both of Twente University).
